My Tribute To Alice I have know Alice Adams since January 1999, I met her at Rhode Hospital when Dr. Duff had a meeting about cochlear implant, When I got to the meeting, I looked around the room and noticed a sweet looking lady who also had a cochlear implant, I knew that had to be Alice. After the meeting I got to talk to her. She told me about the support group she was thinking about starting. Now known as Sonic "The Southern New England Implant Chapter" ( serves as a support group for potential or current cochlear implant candidates at both pre- and post- operative stages.)

I 'am proud to have a friend like Alice. I feel I have come along way, with the help of her. By watching her conducting the meetings, She taught me how to have confidence in myself. I feel I am a stronger person now, and I would like to thank her for that. I would like to wish her the best of luck. I hope everyone has a chance to have a friend like Alice!

My Tribute:

I have personally known Alice Adams for two years now and I consider her a very dear friend of mine. We both have experienced sudden hearing loss, but in different ways and reasons, but have shared the frustrations that went with losing our hearing.
We both have been actively involved in the cochlear implant community and have very much enjoyed doing this as we had a mission to fulfill.

I wanted to thank Alice for her untiring efforts in founding SONIC and making it a very "unique" and rewarding experience from attending those meetings during the past year. If it wasn't for Alice to come up with such "innovative" topics of discussion and putting in the quality that we had in our meetings, we would not have been awarded
the "best new chapter" by the Cochlear Implant Association, Inc. on July 21, 2001.

Alice was a hard working, very devoted, persistent individual whom I will never forget for all the work that she had done to make SONIC the club of her dreams. This was her life and where her heart was set. You could see the smile on her face when she conducted those meetings! I am giving her a big "HUG".

Sincerely,
Gary Kilberg

My tribute,
When someone give it their "all" and does it from the bottom of her heart, you know it. When someone demonstrates patience, good will, and tolorance, you know that too. Alice has it all. She created a home for people that needed to discuss implants and an space for people that could learn about them to help themselves or someone in their families. Within a short time, SONIC became a leader for the CI communities nationwide.
Alice deserves to be recognized as a dreamer and a leader with an unselfish heart.
With warmest wishes,

Myron Waldman

I would like to commend Alice for all the hard work and effort she put into starting the first Cochlear Implant Chapter in RI. She was the second person to be implanted in RI. As soon as she received her implant she started working to organize a group where others could feel comfortable going to talk about their expereinces and for those who may be considering an implant to go and talk with others.
Her mission was out of pure caring for others with hearing loss and the joy she recieved from her own implant.
She worked very hard to make the SONIC group a success, which it was, and she is very saddened to see it come to an end after it's first year.
Alice should be very proud of the award she received recently for the "Best New Cochlear Implant Chapter" at the Cochlear Implant Association, Inc. Seminar.
I personally had nominated Alice for an award last year from Oticon hearing aid company, for a hearing impaired person who has made great strides and has had a positive impact on others despite their hearing loss.
Alice is a wonderful person who has become a good friend, and she should be commended for all her hard work and efforts.

GREAT JOB ALICE! YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD.

Dear Alice,
I want to say thank you for your efforts in forming the first"Cochlear Inplant Club "in Southern New England.
Very few people get the opportunity to create something that gives hope to the deaf and hard of hearing.
Alice, your great desire to do good, overcame many barriers.
Your ideas, hard work ,enthusiasm, financial support and boundless energy resulted in "Sonic" getting the "CIAI Chapter of the Year' award.
You and your family should be very proud.
It was an honor to work with you and have your friendship.
Take care of yourself.
